Goblyn Issue 25b

I can't even begin to explain to you how excited and nervous I am about this issue.
excited, because I've finally made it to the last chapter in Volume One of the series, and nervous because of the ending of this issue and how it will be received.
or interpreted.
I hope it makes sense, while at the same time being wonderfully confusing as to what is being proposed.

either way... this next week I will be taking off from working on Goblyn, and then returning with issue 26a on July 8th.
While on this brief hiatus, I'll be filling up the Goblyn Databook, and doing a few of the video commentaries for the issues I never got around too.

seriously... I love how this issue came out.
I feel good about where this is going.

Comics journey: 07 The Kickstarter Blues

honestly you can pretty much just listen to ep 07,
cause i was so traumatized i don't actually do anything in the video xD

i have less than an hour now (it's ended) until the good ship goblyn kickstarter goes down in a blaze of glory.
i would like to say thank you to all those that donated and i hope you all liked the free wallpapers. C:
i'll try again in a while. i'm just kind of gun shy right now.
this is a bit of a blow to my confidence in the series, ever being successful
but also to my fragile artists' self worth.

i'll get over it. like i get over all things that don't go as expected.
recompose and set back out on my path.

Goblyn Issue 25a

Well... we're one issue away from the last issue in the first volume.
but for this one, I was lucky enough to have the amazingly talented LD Walker grace the cover again with some breath taking guest art.

i love that hazy feel it has to it. like a calm morning rising
seriously... i lovethat new dawn look it has to it

it's less dramatic then the last cover he did for me,
but still dramatic
its like opposite dramatic
its light versus heavy
its pulls you up
while the issue 10a cover was weighty and dense
it was slightly foreboding.
this one is like hopeful, graceful
i love it.
he shames me with his dynamics
and makes me proud to call him my friend at the same time
ha ha
Toccata And Fugue in D minor
this is the music i was listening to when he first showed me the cover.
at the 3:08 mark.

Goblyn Issue 24b

it's funny... I  got CS3 up and running on someone else’s laptop and then promptly "borrowed" it for the week (insert devious laugh here) then proceeded to tell myself I would be finished with this issue by friday morning and that way i could spend the weekend sleeping in a corner somewhere.
(i've been sleeping poorly for a couple of weeks)

but it meant i would have to run this week’s issue short. like almost 20 pages short compared to a usual issue.
hrm... sacrifice story, for sleep. hrm... HRM....
if you want to know how it turned out... know this. I woke up sunday morning June 10th at 6 a.m.,
sat here at this hijacked laptop and am currently colouring 10 pages I couldn't bring myself to sacrifice from the story, no matter how much catching up on sleep i wanted to get.
i would love it if goblyn came out each week perfectly at the stroke of midnight, but not if it means leaving a bad taste in people’s mouths with less than half a story. i couldn't get up the next day and work on the next issue in good conscious if I did so.
or maybe i'm an arta-worka-holic.
or maybe I just like telling stories too much to poop out a crap story just so I can sleep all day.
who knows?

Goblyn Issue 24a

This has been a pretty miserable week as far as making comics and using technology goes.
CS3 decided to stop working on me again. Seems like this happens once a year.
So I was forced to use Photoshop 6, which isn’t all bad except I have no texture brushes, not image warping and as I found out while colouring I have lost the ability to do many of the layer effects I had been doing over the last few issues.
I dunno… adobe is doing this new thing where they have set up a cloud network and you can technically rent their programs on a monthly basis. It’s kind of awesome. That means that now anyone can use photoshop…  technically. I mean it’s a little weird because after like a year or so you have basically paid for a copy of a program but you don’t get to keep it. But adobe has been introducing new versions of their software so fast it’s like you’re just upgrading to a new version as it comes out anyway.
Does any of that logic make sense?
I hate losing the ability I’ve become so comfortable with over the last few years.
I keep trying to reload it but it tells me it has repaired the problem, and when I launch the program I get the same old error. With PS6 I still at least have the ability to colour, that’s a good thing. But wow is version 6 nerfed compared to CS3. They made so many advanced, so many changes. The UI alone is more comfortable in later versions. PS6 is very clunky to get around in. it feels very tight and Closter phobic. But I’ll survive, for now. I may go mad in the long run though.
